Harvest of Handwovens

Application for 2025 Show and Sale

Who May Participate:

Members of HWOTV whose dues are paid in full by April 30th.

Purpose:

  • Promote public awareness of the fine art of handweaving and spinning.
  • Serves as an educational experience for those wishing to share and learn more about one of the ancient arts.
  • It is one of the best advertisements of our group and goals and encourages new memberships.
  • It provides an opportunity to all our members to display and/or sell their innovative designs.
  • It is a fun social event for the Guild.

General Policy:

  1. Anyone selling is required to participate for the entire day of the sale on Saturday.
  2. The HWOTV Show and Sale is a fundraiser for the Guild, and all members benefit whether they sell or not. It is hoped that everyone will participate in advanced preparations, set-up, the smooth running of the event, tear down, and clean up.
  3. All items brought in for sale must be new handwoven, handspun yarn, fleece, or felted. Exception: Items place in the Weaver’s Attic.
  4. Hand-knit or crocheted items must be made using the member’s handspun yarn.
  5. Handwoven items must be at least 50% handwoven.
  6. Mill-spun yarn for sale made from members’ flocks or farms is allowed as well as fleece, raw or prepared into roving.
  7. Hand-felted items are accepted, including needle felted, Nuno felted, and water bath felted items.
  8. Coiled or woven baskets are accepted. Can be coiled or woven on a wood or gourd base.
  9. Surface designs, printed, painted, or dyed on commercial fabrics, such as silk scarf blanks, are accepted, but are to be displayed in a separate area clearly marked as not handwoven.
  10. All inventory items submitted for sale must have the tags/labels attached.
  11. All new products will be evaluated prior to Show and Sale to ensure that they are aligned with the guidelines. Please ask Co-Chairpersons about items not specifically listed above. Submit project for approval by the September meeting.
  12. Please remember the necessity of a well finished piece. A fine handwoven piece deserves the best possible finishing smooth seams, hems, neat trims, careful pressing, etc.
  13. Ineligible Items: Copies of items published in Handwoven should not be sold at Show & Sale per Handwoven Magazine: “All contents of this issue of Handwoven are copyrighted by F+ W Media, Inc. 2016 (or which ever year applies). All rights reserved. Projects and information are for inspiration and personal use only. Reproduction in whole or in part is prohibited, except by permission of the publisher.”
  14. Inspirational Gallery: Items for this gallery must provide a demonstration of the artistic process from inspiration to creation. These items are not for sale.
  15. Weavers’ Attic: Weaver’s Attic items can include used fiber equipment, excess yarns and fiber purchased by members, but not needed, used textile, books, and gently used handwoven items in good condition.
  • Current Members of HWOTV are allowed to sale items in the Weavers’ Attic.
  • Estate items of former members can also be sold.
  • Items donated to the guild for the Sale for the benefit of the Guild.
  • Estate items and any exceptions to the above need to be cleared with the Show and Sale Chairpersons BEFORE the Show and Sale days – preferably by the September meeting.

2024 Event

The Harvest of Handwovens, our Show and Sale, was a resounding success! Thank you to the volunteers, demonstrators, sellers, and supporters/shoppers! Its success was truly a community effort!
